Singapore reached a milestone in its battle against Covid-19 on Saturday (March 19) as the total number of infections recorded in the country crossed the one million mark.
Интересно использование слова milestone. Раз уж мы взяли путь на эндемичность, то конечно да, наш путь нынче - это чтобы все переболели. На это благое дело выделяются охуиллиарды денег.

This means fewer people died overall during the pandemic compared with the years before.
